Mona Lisa Fire Controller

By Ryan McDermott

Firing control box

This is a firing and ignition control that I build for an art car that was at burning man in 2016. The art car has 8 flame throwers (or flame projectors) on it, and HAD 2 pulsejets.

The best part of this controller is that it is wireless, meaning we can walk around in the crowd and let people fire the torches.

Mona Lisa’s fire effects (stealios, as we lovingly call it) shoot fire about 20-30 feet.

The control box could also be used to run the remote ignition for the pulsejets.

The pulsejets produce something like 140db of sound. So we fired them up once, and then never fired them again.

The panel on the bottom right of the box can be used to trigger various lighting programs on the art car.

This is still in active use.
